April Denver Newborn Session

Baby Noah made his debut as “little brother” and his big sisters were ready to show him the ropes during this in-home newborn session. It was a beautiful springy, April day in Denver. The smiles ran deep and my heart was a puddle by the end of this session.

If you follow along, I captured this sweet families maternity session in Boulder last month. I absolutely love getting to follow along with families’ precious and fleeting moments. An in-home session for newborn photos is my go-to style vs. a studio newborn session because it’s perfectly intimate and feels comfortable for the family who just added a beautiful new addition to their home.

Grandma was in town and was able to help mom and dad. This allowed big sisters to take a “Peppa Pig” break and have a much deserved cupcake while I snuck off to take some photos of mom and dad with their little guy. I loved seeing Jennifer and Justin stare into their baby boy’s eyes and reminisce on what their girls were like when they were this little. Jennifer said it best, “He's still a perfectly sweet newborn, and I don't want him to grow up.”

Clients often ask me how soon after baby is born to do the in-home newborn session. There is no right or wrong answer! My best advice is to reach out when you feel comfortable after getting home from the hospital. I’ve captured newborns just a few days old (this session, the baby was 10 days old) all the way up to 2 months. I feel lucky to get to be one of the first people to witness a family being with their newborn.

Something that was really special about this session is that grandma made these beautiful blankets for each grandchild when they were born! I absolutely loved getting to photograph the grandchildren together with their individual blankets. Too cute! It also felt like a sibling slumber party (complete with matching pajamas).

Wishing a very Happy Mother’s Day to this sweet momma and all of my amazing previous clients who are mothers as well. Your strength, patience and kindness continues to inspire me. I hope you feel as beautiful as I see you through my lens and the way I see your family members look at you today and always!
